PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a network management method capable of setting a usage protocol so as to prevent the control of a network from becoming in an impossible state in the network to which a network device supporting plural kinds of protocols is connected. SOLUTION: When a user inputs a protocol setting screen display instruction (S101), the kind of the protocol supported by the network device is obtained (S102). In the case of 'ineffective' setting where the protocol other than the one to be set cannot be used (S103), 'ineffective' is removed from candidates being setting possible in the case of displaying a setting screen and displaying is executed (S105 and S106).
