PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a fixing apparatus which is capable of efficiently executing fixing of toner images, is inexpensive and compact by using halogen lamps having peaks of radiation intensity at the light emission wavelengths of a specific range as lamps. SOLUTION: The fixing apparatus is provided with the five halogen lamps 14a to 15c. The halogen lamps 14a, 14b have the peaks of the radiation intensity at 2100K light emission color temperature and about 1400 namometers in light emission wavelength in the continuous current-carring 200 V, 500 W. The halogen lamps 15a, 15b and 15c have the peaks of the radiation intensity at 2500 K light emission color temperature and about 1200 namometers in light emission wavelength in full duty of 200 V and 500 W and the degradation in the duty of about 20% by power source phase control is possible. Setting of absorptivity of paper at about 30 to 40% is effective for fixing of the toners superposed on each other and for this purpose, the halogen lamps 15a, 15b and 15c of 1000 to 1300 namometers are effective.
