<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catalyst for producing a propylene oxide, which is used directly for the production of a propylene oxide due to a gas phase oxidation reaction of a propylene, has a good continued catalytic activity, and can be prepared at a low cost and safely using a substance hard to contaminate an environment, and a method of producing a propylene oxide using the same. <P>SOLUTION: The catalyst for producing the propylene oxide in which at least one of alkaline metal compounds and at least one of alkaline earth metal compounds are carried on an inorganic carrier as an essential ingredient is provided. It is preferable to use, as an alkaline metal compound, KNO<SB>3</SB>or NaNO<SB>3</SB>and, as an alkaline earth metal compound, Ca(NO<SB>3</SB>)<SB>2</SB>or Mg(NO<SB>3</SB>)<SB>2</SB>. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
