PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a false twist yarn having stretchability, resiliency, soft touch, bulkiness, and drapeability as well as high color fastness and provide a method for producing the yarn. SOLUTION: The false twist yarn is a multifilament false twist yarn of a conjugate fiber obtained by joining (A) a polyester component composed mainly of polytrimethylene terephthalate and (B) a polyester component composed mainly of polyethylene terephthalate side-by-side along the direction of fiber length. The shrink recovery of the yarn by the hot-water treatment at 90 deg.C is >=15%. And further a method for the production of the false twist yarn is provided.
