PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem wherein a function is needed in which in a contents recording apparatus with a function of recoding and reproducing simultaneously (during recording contents, recorded contents different from the recording ones are reproduced), during recording contents, the recorded contents information is displayed for reading through to perform reproducing operation, and further it is difficult for users to judge which contents can be reproduced when simultaneously recordable and reproducible contents are limited by band limiting. SOLUTION: During recording, bibliographical items in the recorded contents information are displayed. Further, the apparatus includes a contents discriminating means for discriminating which type the contents is, SD contents or HD contents. Furthermore, when the recording contents are the SD contents, the apparatus displays only the SD contents in the bibliographical items or displays all the recorded contents in the bibliographical items displayed to highlight only the SD contents, clearly demonstrating that the contents displayed is reproducible during recording.
