<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication method and a communication system which perform setting of the optical pathway of an optical network especially in advance of data communication, regarding an optical network which connects parts between a plurality of networks. <P>SOLUTION: When a first transfer instrument 1320 requests data, line setting request which requests setting of line in a line switching type network 1100 is transmitted via a packet-switched network 1200, the first transfer instrument 1320 and a second transfer instrument 1420 hold setting information on a line established based on the line setting request until data request from the first transfer instrument 1320 reaches the second transfer instrument 1420, and the second transfer instrument 1420 transmits the request data to the first transfer instrument 1320 via the line established based on the line setting request. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
