<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively use predetermined descriptors among a variety of descriptors of program specific information (PSI) included in MPEG2-TS. <P>SOLUTION: A devise 10 for decoding the MPEG2-TS obtains the PSI from a TS during reception or regeneration, and an MPEG2-TS PSI analyzer 11 obtains, for example, a genre indicated by a content descriptor of the PSI. A lighting control signal generator 13 obtains information indicating an illumination of an interior lighting corresponding to the genre from an external-device control table 12 to generate a lighting control signal and sends the signal to an interior lighting device 21 to control its illumination of lighting. A television control signal generator 14 obtains information indicating an image quality corresponding to the genre from the external-device control table 12 to generate an image quality control signal and transmits the signal to a television receiver 22 to control its image quality.
