PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device capable of displaying an image related to a connection environment. SOLUTION: The display device 100 comprises: an interface section 110 having a group of connection terminals 112 connectable to external equipment 200; a connection terminal determination section 130 for determining a connection terminal connected to the external equipment 200; a signal type determination section 140 for determining the type of a video signal inputted at the connection terminal; a storage section 120 for storing optimum terminal definition data 122; an optimum terminal determination section 150 for determining whether there is a more appropriate connection terminal as compared with a currently unused connection terminal; and a notification information generation section 170 for generating notification information for urging a user to use the more appropriate connection terminal when there is such a more appropriate terminal.
