An absorbing amount calibrating apparatus of a selective catalytic device of a vehicular exhaust system and a method thereof are provided to prevent ammonia slip because the ammonia absorbing amount is exactly amended. An absorbing amount calibrating method of a selective catalytic device of a vehicular exhaust system comprises the steps of: calculating NOx purifying efficiency and reacting amount through modeling(S103) when a catalytic device is in active; calculating ammonia accumulation absorbing amount and goal absorbing amount(S104); calculating demanded quantity of ammonia absorbed into the catalytic device(S105); supplying elements(S106); calculating NOx purifying efficiency(S107); stopping supplying of element(S109) when element supplying period for ammonia absorbing amount correction is over a reference time period(S108); calculating purifying efficiency of NOx(S110); and applying the absorbing amount correction line and amending the absorbing amount(S112).
