The present invention relates to an electronic device and a method for controlling a screen display. The method comprises: a step of extracting at least one function which may be applicable to two or more applications displayed on a display; a step of displaying the extracted at least one function as an icon; and a step of applying, when a user selects the displayed icon, a function, corresponding to the selected icon, to at least one of the applications among the two or more applications. The present invention provides an electronic device and a method for controlling a screen display so that a user may control a plurality of applications.
