METHOD AND DEVICE FOR DETERMINEING APPROPRIATENESS OF TRAFFIC SIGNAL CYCLE

Disclosed are a method and a device for determining appropriateness of a traffic signal cycle to calculate a traffic volume in accordance with a traffic signal cycle and associated with the speed of a vehicle and to determine whether or not the traffic signal cycle of an intersection is appropriately set through a comparison between the calculated heterogeneous traffic volumes. According to the present invention, the method comprises the following steps: calculating a signal cycle traffic volume in accordance with a traffic signal cycle of an intersection on a measurement point inside a road connected to the intersection; calculating a point traffic volume by using the speed of a vehicle passing the measurement point; and determining whether or not the traffic signal cycle of the intersection is appropriate by comparing the signal cycle traffic volume and the point traffic volume.
