发明名称 Hyperthermia treatment and probe therefor
摘要 In vivo hyperthermia treatment of a target tissue can include imaging the target tissue with a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) system, positioning a hyperthermia treatment probe in or proximate to the target tissue based on the imaging, and heating the target tissue by the probe. During the heating, changes in temperature of a volume of tissue that includes the target tissue can be monitored with the MRI system to determine an amount of the heating applied to the target tissue, and the heating can be terminated when the amount of the heating reaches a predetermined amount.

主权项 1. A method of in vivo hyperthermia treatment of a targeted area of brain target tissue, the method comprising: imaging the brain target tissue with a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) system; positioning a hyperthermia treatment probe in or proximate to the targeted area of the brain target tissue based on the imaging; operating a power output source, by a device controller, to heat the targeted area of the brain target tissue with the hyperthermia treatment probe; monitoring, by the device controller during the heating, changes in temperature in real time of a volume of tissue that includes the targeted area of the brain target tissue to determine an amount of the heating applied to the targeted area of the brain target tissue, wherein monitoring comprises receiving information from the MRI system indicative of temperatures, and determining changes in temperature in both the targeted area and a portion of surrounding non-target tissue; during monitoring, identifying, by the device controller, a difference between a penetration depth of the heating and a boundary of the targeted area, adjusting, by the device controller responsive to identifying the difference between the penetration depth and the boundary, the power output source of the hyperthermia treatment probe, andidentifying, by the device controller, the amount of the heating in the targeted area has reached a predetermined amount; and terminating, by the device controller responsive to identifying the amount of the heating in the targeted area has reached the predetermined amount, the power output source.
