PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process for producing xanthene which is industrially very useful as a pharmaceutical intermediate, with high yield and high selectivity, by a very convenient process of reacting sodium dihydro-bis(2-methoxyethoxy)aluminate and xanthone in an organic solvent.SOLUTION: Provided is a process for producing xanthene with high yield and high selectivity by, for example, reacting sodium dihydro-bis(2-methoxyethoxy)aluminate and xanthone in an organic solvent such as toluene.SELECTED DRAWING: None |
