COPPER SMELTING SLAG TREATMENT METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a copper smelting slag treatment method suitable for recovering iron from copper smelting slag.SOLUTION: A method for treating copper smelting slag generated in a copper smelting furnace includes a step of charging the copper smelting slag into an iron oxide reduction and recovery furnace to reduce iron oxide in the slag to precipitate the iron oxide on a furnace bottom and then separating and recovering the slag whose iron oxide content is lowered and molten metal mainly comprising iron staying on the furnace bottom. The reduction of the iron oxide in the iron oxide reduction and recovery furnace is performed by blowing carbon from a furnace bottom part of the iron oxide reduction and recovery furnace and supplying necessary carbon for dissolving sufficient carbon in metallic iron generated by the reduction.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
