<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lithium secondary battery high in capacity and excellent in cycle characteristic. <P>SOLUTION: The lithium secondary battery having a positive electrode, a negative electrode and a nonaqueous electrolyte uses a carbon material (A) and a carbon black (B) in a manner that the ratio of the carbon black (B) to the carbon material (A) of 100 pts. mass becomes 0.2-2 pts. mass, as a negative electrode material. The battery is constituted in a manner that in the negative electrode, a coating film including the specific negative material is formed on at least one surface of a negative electrode current collector at a density of ≥1.6 g/cm<SP>2</SP>. The carbon material (A) is a carbon material, in which a surface interval of a 002 surface (d<SB>002</SB>) is set to d<SB>002</SB>≤0.3365 nm, a crystal size in a c-axis direction (Lc) is set to Lc≥70 nm, and an R value of a Raman spectrum at excitation by argon laser of wavelength 514.5nm äR=I<SB>1,350</SB>/I<SB>1,580</SB>(a ratio between a Raman intensity near 1,350 cm<SP>-1</SP>and a Raman intensity near 1,580 cm<SP>-1</SP>)} is set to 0.01≤R≤0.3. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
