PURPOSE:To make a sheet suppliable in keeping a cassette attached intact, by making a lifter-down regulation so as to be released with a cassette opening action and to be restored to the regulating position with the closing action, while automating the closing action of a cassette cover, in the case of a cassette type sheet supply and feed device for a copying machine or the like. CONSTITUTION:When a sheet is supplied to a cassette C in attachedness, a sensor 26 is operated with a cassette cover 25 opened, while a pressing plate 25d pushes up a projected engaging part 21b of a rising ratchet lever. With this operation, the ratchet lever is selected, and down-regulation of a lifter 12 is released free, thus it is made to go down with its own weight. Therefore, an intermediate plate 10 also goes down so that sheet supply onto this intermediate plate 10 is made performable. If the cassette cover 25 is closed, it moves in reverse, and is restored to the down-regulation state. And, even if a copy button is operated as keeping the cover 25 opened intact, this cover is closed by operation of the sensor 26. With this constitution, the sheet supply is performable as the cassette is left attached intact.
