<p>A cephem compound of the formula : <CHEM> wherein R<1> is amino or a protected amino, R<2> is ethyl, propyl or lower alkenyl, R<3> is COO<(-)>, carboxy or a protected carboxy, R<4> is hydroxy(lower)alkyl or protected hydroxy(lower)alkyl, R<5> is amino or a protected amino, X<(-)> is an anion, and n is 0 or 1, or, R<1>, R<3>, R<5>, X<(-)> and n are each as defined above, R<2> is lower alkyl, and R<4> is 3-hydroxypropyl, with proviso that (i) when R<3> is COO<(-)>, then n is 0, and (ii) when R<3> is carboxy or a protected carboxy, then n is 1, or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, processes for their preparation and pharmaceutical compositions comprising them as an active ingredient in admixture with pharmaceutically acceptable carriers.</p> |
