In the method for heating domestic water, temperature layering with a hotter and colder region is produced in the domestic water. The hot water is used to heat or preheat the domestic water situated in the colder region, and to heat the domestic water situated in the warmer region condensing steam is used. In this arrangement, the hot water is used in a priority circuit for heating the domestic water. As hot water, use may be made of residual heat-carrying condensate, for example distant steam-pipe drainage condensate which is available in any case. In addition, the condensate produced by the condensing steam is used to heat the domestic water. The water heater (1) has a domestic-water tank (2) with a steam-heating assembly (16) and a hot-water heating assembly (26) through which condensate flows. The steam-heating assembly (16) is arranged in a hotter region and the hot-water heating assembly (26) in a colder region of the domestic-water tank (2), thereby reducing the temperature difference between the steam-heating assembly (16) and the domestic water. <IMAGE> |
