PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a customer from purchasing overlappingly by retrieving stored data from a semiconductor element of an IC card according to identification data read by an identification data read means and displaying whether or not an article corresponding to the identification data arcs purchased in the past. SOLUTION: The identification label stuck on an article is read by a bar code reader 1 and the identification number is stored in a personal computer 7. On the basis of this identification number, retrieval from an article data storage is performed to read data out, and the identification number and a book name are displayed on a display means 5. Then, the identification number is sent to a card reader writer 4 and retrieval from a purchase and rent history storage means of the semiconductor element 3 of the IC card 2 is performed; and no data storage is displayed on the display device 5 when there is no stored data and when data is stored, on the other hand, the data is read out and sent to the personal computer 7, so that the display means 5 indicates that a purchase was made in the past together with the book name and its purchase data. |
