PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical wavelength inserting/separating device monitoring system having high reliability and maintenance. SOLUTION: A wavelength demultiplexing/multiplexing optical transmission system is composed of a transmitting node 1 for sending an optical signal obtained by multiplexing n wavelength components λ1 to λn to a transmission line, a repeating node 2 for separating/inserting an optional wavelength component and sending the separated/inserted wavelength to the transmission line and a receiving node 3 for separating the multiplexed optical signal into n optical signals of λ1 to λn. The node 1 includes a means for writing information such as a channel number, transmission wavelength and a transmission level in an overhead of a data signal to be transmitted, the node 2 includes a means for detecting information such as the channel number written in the overhead, checking whether a separated channel has a required signal or not and additionally writing other receiving states such as a synchronizing state and the number of errors in the overhead of a data signal of wavelength to be inserted and the node 3 includes a means for reading out all written information and informing a network manager of the read information. |
