PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an index managing method for a mobile communication terminal simplifying the operation of complicated function by adding an index number to selected data selected on a prescribed condition, displaying it and selectively inputting a number corresponding to the index number of displayed selected data. SOLUTION: The mobile communication terminal 1 is provided with a radio part 10 connected with a mobile communication system through a radio line, a large display part displaying telephone directory information such as a name, a reading KANA (Japanese syllabary), a telephone number and using liquid crystal and an operation part 12 executing the general function operation of the terminal 1 and function operation concerning telephone book information. Then, telephone book information registered by the prescribed operation of the part 12 is added with index numbers 1 to 9 and displayed on the part 11. In order to display the detail of one of the telephone book information added with these numbers 1 to 9, the number corresponding to the index number added to it is selectively inputted from the ten key pad of the part 12.
