TRACTION ASSEMBLY FOR A WORK MACHINE

A traction assembly (12) of a work machine (10) having (i) a differential housing (14) having an axle passageway (16) and an axle (18) within the passageway (16) is disclosed. The traction assembly (12) includes a gear (20) coupled to the axle (18). The gear (20) has a plurality of sensor teeth on the outer surface (22) and a shoulder (26, 30) extending in each lateral direction. The traction assembly (12) also includes a bearing assembly (34) which is composed of a first bearing member (36) and a second bearing member (38). The gear (20) is interposed between the two bearing members (36, 38). The traction assembly (12) further includes a sensor (44) for detecting rotation of the gear (20) relative to the differential housing (14) and generating a sensor signal in response thereto.
