PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control method for electronic equipment, the electronic equipment and an electronic camera utilizing an interface for data communication for use other than the data communication. SOLUTION: An electronic release 12 is connected to a USBI/F14 of the camera 10. The camera 10 detects a voltage impressed to a Vbus. When the electronic release 12 is connected to the USBI/F14, the voltage impressed to the Vbus comes to 1.5V by a switch 32-on operation in the electronic release 12. The electronic release 12 is determined to be connected to the USBI/F14 of the camera 10 when the voltage is within a 1V-4.5V, and a shutter of the camera 10 is controlled in response to the operation of the switch 32 in the electronic release 12. The shutter operation is conducted from the outside by the electronic release 12 using the USBI/F14 provided in the camera 10.
