METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR MANUFACTURING PNEUMATIC TYRES FOR VEHICULE WHEELS

A carcass structure (3) is manufactured on a building drum (17) and subsequently transferred to a primary drum (15). Simultaneously, a belt structure (4) comprising a resistant insert (11) of the "zero-degree" type is made on an auxiliary drum (19). An annular transfer device (23) provided with magnetic inserts (27) integrated into grip sectors (25) or into an expandable bladder (26) picks the belt structure (4) up to transfer it onto the primary drum (15) carrying the carcass structure (3). The magnetic inserts (27) perform stabilisation of the belt structure (4) avoiding structural deformations being produced thereon also in the absence of a tread band (5) or of additional resistant layers having crossed cords. The tread band (5) can be then made through spiralling of a continuous elongated element (12) directly on the belt structure (4) already associated with the carcass structure (3).
