PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing an electro-optical device with which a resin with a low viscosity can be uniformly and thinly supplied to fill a region covering at least an outer surface of a sealing material without liquid dropping. SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing an electro-optical device that comprises a TFT substrate 10 and a counter substrate 20 disposed opposing to each other via a sealing material 52 and a liquid crystal 50 present in a region surrounded by the sealing material 52 between the TFT substrate 10 and the counter substrate 20, includes: a resin application step of applying a resin 60 in an annular pattern covering at least the outer surface 52g of the sealing material 52 in a region 70 outside the sealing material 52; and a resin curing step of curing the resin 60 following the application of the resin 60 in the resin application step.
