<p>The invention relates to a method for searching for a digital image representative of at least one graphical pattern in a bank of images, by analysis of a difference between the description of the searched image and those of the images in the bank. The description of an image is a two-dimensional matrix of dimensions m x n, m and n being given whole numbers, generated by the following method steps : (E12) the digital image is resampled to give a digital image called the normalised image, of dimensions c.m x d.n, where c and d are given whole numbers, (E13) the normalised image is processed in p processes, indexed from 1 to p, to give p characteristic digital images, p being a given whole number, each characteristic image being made up of m x n sub-images, each sub-image being of dimensions cxd, (E14) each characteristic image is reduced to give a reduced image of dimensions mxn, a reduced image being generated by replacing each sub-image of said characteristic image by at least one representative value determined as a function of the c x d pixels of the sub-image, a selection function is determined such as to be able to select from p values, at least one value being called the selected value, each description element (i, j), i ?[1,m], j ?[1,n], is allocated the processing index from which the characteristic image is derived from which the reduced image is generated which includes said selected value from said selection function applied to p pixels (i, j) of the P reduced images.</p> |
