A door handle device having a door handle (9) capable of opening and closing a vehicle door, an installation bracket (11) for supporting, via a support shaft (15), the door handle (9) on the vehicle door (3) so that the door handle (9) can swing in the front-rear direction, and a switch unit (13) provided between the door handle (9) and the installation bracket (11) and locking and unlocking a door lock provided on the vehicle door. A contact portion (fitting groove (27)) with which the support shaft (15) is in contact is formed on the switch unit (15). The support shaft (15) penetrates through a bracket shaft insertion hole (1a) to be fitted in the fitting groove (27), and this fixes the switch unit to the installation bracket.
