Provided are a liquid crystal composition, which comprises a photopolymerization liquid crystal mixture and a thermopolymerization liquid crystal mixture, the two mixtures having opposite rotation directions, a film-type patterned retarder prepared from the liquid crystal mixture and a preparation method therefor, and a display device comprising the film-type patterned retarder. The preparation of the film-type patterned retarder of the present invention is implemented by means of a two-step polymerization method, namely, ultraviolet polymerization and photopolymerization, the process is simple, and the cost is low.
