PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable fuel, injected through a fuel injection valve to reduce fuel pressure after stopping engine operation, to be sufficiently discharged into an exhaust passage and cleaned with a catalyst.SOLUTION: A control device of a multi-cylinder internal combustion engine executes first control to inject fuel through a fuel injection valve and ignite the same in a specific cylinder with an intake valve closed and an exhaust valve opened under a specific condition that an ignition switch of a vehicle mounted with the engine is switched from an on-state to an off-state and rotation of the engine is stopped.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 8
