PURPOSE:To prepare a modified polyester excellent in adhesive properties and satisfactory in clarity, recovery from curling due to winding, mechanical characteristics, and heat resistance by compounding a polyester with specific compds. CONSTITUTION:A polyester is compounded with 1-30wt.% ester-forming alkali metal sulfonate compd., 1-20wt.% ether-linkage-contg. dicarboxylic acid or its ester-forming deriv. of formula I, and 1-30wt.% bisphenol compd. of formula to give a modified polyester. In those formulas, R<1> is a 4C or higher divalent hydrocarbon group; R<2> and R<3> are each H or alkyl; R<4> and R<5> are each a 1-6C divalent hydrocarbon group; X is a divalent group selected from the group consisting of O, SO, SO2, C(CH3)2, and CO; (k) and (j) are each 2-4; (i) and (q) are each 0 or 1; (p) is 1-3; m+n>=4 provided either (m) or (n) may be 0; and (r) and (s) are each 0-10. Thus, the modified polyester which is excellent in adhesive properties, clarity, and flatness can be prepd. without requiring an additional higher-order processing. |
