An antimicrobial matrix and a process for preparing such a matrix, which comprises a support matrix, an antimicrobial agent and a carrying agent, wherein the carrying agent and the antimicrobial agent are adapted to form at least one hydrogen bond or salt bridge therebetween. The antimicrobial agent migrates through the support matrix to the surface thereof. Such a matrix can be extruded and/or moulded into articles for pharmaceutical, medical, catering, forming or personal hygiene use. |
