PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide carbon negative electrode material to manufacture a lithium ion secondary battery of compactness, light weight, high capacity, and low cost. SOLUTION: For this material, carbonized fine powder of a phenol resin of a pore diameter of 0.28-0.50nm, a power volume of 0.05-0.35cm<3> /g, a rate of a pore volume of a pore diameter of 0.50-1.0nm to a pore volume of a pore diameter of 0.28-0.50nm at 0.30 or less, a rate of a pore volume of a pore diameter of 1.0nm or more to a pore volume of a pore diameter of 0.28-0.50nm at 0.25 or less, a specific surface of 0.1-500m<2> /g, an average grain size of 0.1-50μm, and a hydrogen atom/carbon atom atomic number ratio of 0.02-0.35 is used. |
