<p>An apparatus (10) is provided for moving a tape cartridge (12) with respect to a read/write head (126) in a media system. The apparatus (10) includes a housing having a base, and a plurality of flexures (112) extending perpendicularly thereto with first ends (118) attached to a housing and second ends (120) attached to a deck (54) that holds a tape cartridge (12). The flexures (112) allow flexible movement of the deck (54) with respect to the base (114) to move the tape in relation relative to the read/write head (126) in a forward and retracting manner. A shuttle interlock mechanism (57-61) and a movable shuttle (34) for selectively locking the shuttle (34) with respect to the deck (54) prevents damage to the read/write head (126). An H-shaped flexure (86) connects the deck (54) to a vertically movable motor plate (80) preventing backlash.</p> |
