<p>A computer system enables nontechnical users to extract, summarize and compile and format data from a database, without writing complex database programs. It further monitors new data and generates forecasts based on the data extracted from the database by the system. Data from a legacy database (10) or databases is mapped (110) and imported into a well structured database (100). A system template allows users to construct database programs using esoteric terms and esoteric functions common in their particular industry. A knowledge based translator correlates the esoteric terms with the appropriate database fields, and the esoteric functions with the appropriate mathematical functions needed to perform the analysis. The database program generator (60) then creates the database program for execution. Once the database program is created, it is passed to the system processor for execution.</p> |
