<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compound and its manufacturing method, as well as a positive electrode and a battery capable of improving a charge and discharge cycle life and other characteristics. <P>SOLUTION: A positive electrode 12 includes a compound represented by the equation (1). The compound represented herein is manufactured by causing reaction to occur between a precursor polymer made up of C and S and a raw material of a metallic element including at least one kind among groups made up of elements from 3 family to 12 family in a long period type periodic table.
