PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the convenience of a vending machine by immediately and easily changing an erroneously selected commodity to a desired commodity in the vending machine without taking out the former commodity. SOLUTION: If a change button 41 is depressed in a vending machine 10 before the opening operation of a door 20A of a commodity reception hole 20 is detected by a door switch 42 after depression of a commodity selection button 15, a recovery device 43 is operated, and commodity selection with the amount of money equivalent to the sales price of a recovered commodity is permitted again on condition that recovery of this commodity is confirmed by a recovery confirmation sensor 44.
