PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve reliability in detecting operation. SOLUTION: In this connector inspecting device, when a retainer 33 is at a proper fastening location, a probe 21 (detecting member) for inspecting a retainer is in contact with a protrusion 45 for detection of the retainer 33. When the retainer 33 remains at a temporary fastening location, the probe 21 for inspecting a retainer is not in contact with the retainer 33. In other words, based on whether the probe 21 for inspecting a retainer is in contact with the retainer 33 or not, it is determined whether the retainer 33 is located at the temporary fastening location or at the proper fastening location. In the case of detecting a retainer during the process of setting a connector in a holder, there is a possibility that the retainer is forcefully set by a pressing force at the time of setting to cause error detection even when the retainer remains at the temporary fastening location. However, as detection is performed only with a connector 30 set in a holder 12, error detection due to a pressing force at the time of setting does not occur, and the connecting inspecting device is superior in reliability in detecting operation.
