PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a movable jaw and an inside surface of the mouth of the head from being deformed and destroyed by applying force from a nut to a ratchet spanner in a direction pressing the movable jaw on a sliding surface through a constraining surface and dispersedly applying this force to the whole of the sliding surface. SOLUTION: When force is applied to a top of a nut by a constraining surface 6a, force is applied to the constraining surface 6a by the nut. Therefore, a groove bottom surface 7a of a fitting groove 7 is pressed by a sliding surface 3d, large frictional force is acted between the groove bottom surface 7a and the sliding surface 3d and a movable jaw 6 is fixed to the sliding surface 3d. The nut is rotated and fastened. In this case, force is applied from the nut to a ratchet spanner 1 in a direction that the movable jaw 6 is pressed on the sliding surface 3d through the constraining surface 6a but the movable jaw 6 and a movable jaw supporting part 5 are not deformed and destroyed because this force is dispersedly applied to the whole of the sliding surface 3d.
