PAPER COATING LIQUID AND COATED PAPER USING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a paper coating liquid preventing deterioration of high-speed coating properties and surface properties of a coated paper due to insufficiency of water retentivity and increase in a high-share viscosity and improved in viscosity, and a coated paper obtained by coating the coating liquid, improved in missing dots in a photogravure and improved in physical properties such as surface smoothness, printing capability, picking resistance and a luster. SOLUTION: This coating liquid is obtained by formulating a copolymer composed of at least one kind of monomer selected from (A) a (meth)acrylic acid unit, (B) a (meth)acrylate unit and (C) compounds represented by general formulae (I) and (II) (R1 is H or methyl; R2 is a divalent hydrocarbon or carbonyl; R3 is an 8-30C hydrocarbon; (m) is 0 or 1; and (n) is an integer of 10-100) as a thickener to the paper coating liquid comprising a pigment and a binder as basic components. The coated paper is obtained by forming a coated film of the coating liquid on the surface of a paper base.
