<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polymer electrolyte fuel cell which can prevent adverse effects such as formation of the temperature distribution in a stack with the temperature change of a fluid inside a manifold and degradation of the cell voltage with condensation of the steam in the manifold, and which can be realized at a low cost. <P>SOLUTION: In a polymer electrolyte fuel cell, a plurality of cells are connected through a separator 1 and fluids such as cooling water and reactive gas are supplied to or discharged from each cell through an internal manifold 7 communicated in a laminating direction of each separator.
