PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method with which fishery household carries out a treatment for shipping so that shells of shellfishes can readily be opened, without damaging the flesh even by persons who are not skilled in technique; to provide a method for opening the shells of the shellfishes with which the shells thereof are opened; and to provide a tool for opening the shells used therefor. SOLUTION: The method includes the steps wherein a hole 13 is perforated in an upper shell 11 of an oyster 1 and the tool 6 for opening the shells is inserted from the hole 13; a support shaft 67 is extended downward, to bring the lower end thereof into contact with a lower shell 12; a rotating blade 64 is then pushed up and rotated to cut the adductor 10 with the cutting blade 64, thereby the adductor 10 is cut off from the upper shell 11. A grip 63 for the upper shell part and a grip 68 for the lower shell part are grasped to push down the lower shell 12 by the lower end of the support shaft 67; the upper shelf 11 is pushes up by the rotating blade 64, and the oyster 1 can be opened simply.
