PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and a method that do not make a user feel inconvenience even if broadcast waves cannot be received by a broadcast receiver and the video image of a program cannot be displayed or is stopped when viewing terrestrial digital broadcasting. SOLUTION: The broadcast receiver 100 comprises: a channel change means 101 for changing a plurality of channels received by a reception means ANT1 to a channel corresponding to a change request; a display means 107 for displaying the video image of a channel to be received; an acquisition means 111 for acquiring a program list including channels, program broadcast time, program names, and the description of program broadcast content; and a control means 110 for stopping channel change processing to control the display means 107 so that the program list corresponding to the channel of a change destination is displayed, when the broadcast signal cannot be received by the reception means ANT1 during the channel change processing from when the change request is inputted to when the video image of the channel of the change destination is displayed by the display means 107.
