METHOD FOR DIFFERENTIAL DIAGNOSIS OF IDIOPATHIC FIBROSING ALVEOLITIS AND NON-SPECIFIC INTERSTITIAL PNEUMONIA

A method for the differential diagnosis of the idiopathic fibrosing alveolitis and non-specific interstitial pneumonia provides for calculating the percentage of the lung lesions with reticular alterations and alterations appeared as opal glass in the section with the maximal lesion percentage followed by the calculation of the ratio between these two coefficients. The ratio exceeding 1.76 is diagnostic of the idiopathic fibrosing alveolitis. The ratio below 0.76 suggests of non-specific interstitial pneumonia.
