PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multimode optical fiber and optical fiber transmission system capable of reducing the group delay difference between propagation modes and making the number of propagation modes larger than two.SOLUTION: The multimode optical fiber of the present invention includes a core having a graded profile and a low refractive index layer outside the core, and can reduce the group delay difference between light propagation modes. In other words, in an optical transmission system using a MIMO technology, the load of digital signal processing can be reduced by using the multimode optical fiber. Therefore, the present invention can provide a multimode optical fiber capable of reducing the load of the digital processing required for reconstructing a signal. |
