PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that a naturally growing tree that is unlikely to grow into a straight tree loses value thereof as a commodity lumber.SOLUTION: There is provided a method for growing Melia azedarach on a flatland, in which seedling trees are planted on the flatland around March and germinated around April; spring disbudding and summer disbudding are each performed in spring and summer in a current year and the next year, an apical bud which is the side bud located at the highest position remains among buds of each germinated seedling tree while the side buds therebelow are cut, and the apical bud is left to grow as it is; the trees are thinned about twice almost every four years after the planting; the trees are thinned for use when they reach 12 years of age so that the population density of the remaining trees becomes about 100 trees per 1 ha; and then, they are left to grow until they reach about 20 years of age.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
