Induction heating device

The device (12a) has induction heating units (20a, 22a, 24a, 26a, 28a) in circular disk form and attached to a heating frequency unit (60a) i.e. electrical unit. A control unit (64a) i.e. electronic unit, operates two of the induction heating units in sections in operation mode. Two induction heating units form a common heating area (39a) and exhibit a common contact (94a). A resonance unit (50a) is directly connected with the common contact in operating condition. Switching elements (74a, 76a) e.g. relay, are arranged between the frequency unit and one of the heating units. The common contact is a contact point and directly connected to the induction units in any operating condition different from operating condition with defects. The heating area is an effective area of magnetic alternating fields. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating an induction heating device.
