<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a print control device and method with simple configurations enabling to precisely inform of a print completion notice from a printer to an application. <P>SOLUTION: The print control device comprises an identification number assigning means 22 which sequentially assigns identification numbers in order of requirement which are not the same as printing numbers assigned by an application, an identification number memory means 23 which memorizes relationships of the assigned identification numbers and the printing numbers, a communication part 12 which sends a request of a print completion notice corresponding to the identification number to a printer 50, a print completion judging means 24 which obtains an identification number of completed printing from the printer and judges the printing number corresponding to the obtained identification number which is an object to send a print completion notice, and a print requirement processing means (notification means) 21 which sends the print completion notice of the print process corresponding to the print number to the application 11 based on the judgment.
