PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress an artifact in the periphery of a line image, while improving "distinctness" and the "feeling of unevenness" of an image.SOLUTION: A multiple resolution image generation part 21 for generating a multiple resolution image generates a first image 303 by performing a smoothing process for a start point image 301 of one resolution level (n), generates a second image 305 by performing scaling-up of a scaling-down image which sales-down the first image, and generates a resolution image 307 of the resolution level on the basis of the first image and the second image, and generates the multiple resolution image by outputting the scaling-down image as a start-up image 301 of the next resolution level (n+1). The degree of density of color is relaxed in the periphery of a line image by performing the smoothing process for the start-point image 301, and as a result, an image suppressed in the artifact in the line image periphery can be obtained.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4 |
