Device for image scanning

A device for scanning coloured images with imaging optics, a monochrome semiconductor image pickup and a liquid crystal cell which is arranged in the beam path and the transmission percentage of which can be changed for the three primary colours by means of a control signal. To construct such a device as simply as possible and to achieve good colour separation, the area of light transmission of the liquid crystal cell is divided into a number of part-areas coloured in the primary colours by means of a colour filter, of which part-areas the areas with the same primary colour are in each case successively switched to transmit light. The part-images obtained for the three primary colours at the output of the semiconductor image pickup are temporarily stored and can then be supplied in parallel to a reproduction device. Such a device is particularly suitable as scanner for transparencies. <IMAGE>
