<p>A hair removal device (10) having a plurality of springs (45) mounted on a rotary head (20) and arranged to open and close to trap and pluck skin hair over a relatively wide area. The rotary head multi-spring design is provided as a hand-held, motor-powered depilatory device having a cup-like rotor (1a) formed with two concentric supports (16, 18). A plurality of compression coil springs (45) are mounted in freely rotatable fashion on pins (37) extending radially between the supports. The springs have normally open loops with spaces between them along the pin length. A cam (48) is arranged proximate the pins (37) such that when the rotary head (20) rotates about a shaft (28), the pins (37) slide radially between the supports in accordance with the cam shape, forcing a shoulder (41) formed at one pin end against the end of the spring, compressing and closing its loops. The loops of each spring (45) mounted on the rotary head (20) rotate freely on the skin, reducing friction, and skin hair is grasped and plucked as the loops close, removing the hair.</p> |
